Yesterday we had the pleasure of Robert Mitchell from Sports For Champions coming into school to do some exciting fitness tasks with us. We all took part in some press-ups, leg drives and star jumps, amongst other activities. Robert also told us about his journey to be an Olympian and where it all started; when he was just 7 years old. He talked about the importance of looking after our bodies and eating healthily.
Harrison said, ‘It’s clear that Robert works really hard and exercises a lot to make sure he is fit for competitions.’
Isla said, ‘Robert taught me not to be scared of things after he told us a story about him being scared of spiders when he was younger. He also made me realise that you can start thinking about your future even when you’re only young.’
Miss Jones said, ‘Robert came in and instantly inspired the children. He had such a great rapport with them and they were all very engaged with every activity and asked him some great questions during our assembly session. Some children have even been talking about how they would like to be an Olympic athlete when they’re older!
